Sandy Taylor

After many years of teaching art to kids and adults, then working as an arts administrator, I finally have the freedom and time to be a painter! I love to explore fleeting moments, inner musings and ephemeral beauty as painterly visions in my art making. And I love to experiment with mixed materials and surfaces, and with combinations of oil paint, acrylics, collage papers and what ever interests me. My art language is influenced by the natural world and the serendipity of a moment, ranging from "plein air" as a sense of time, place and season, to abstraction of surface, texture and color. Studies of the landscape and the figure transform, creating new points of view and emotional context. I work in the space between representation and abstraction, translating memories and experiences into color, texture and form.
