Ann Hayes
Ann Hayes has spent a lifetime painting people and the places that shape their lives. Her art is filled with light, life and a deep appreciation for the beauty of natural and lived-in landscapes.
“I am interested in portraying the complexities of life, the layers of history and our connections to our surroundings.”
Hayes takes a similar approach to her portrait and figurative paintings, believing the subject’s story and surroundings is as important as likeness in capturing each person. Hayes is a contributor to the Philadelphia and New Jersey “Souls Shot Portrait Project” honoring those lost to gun violence through works of art.
Hayes has a BA from Douglass College, Rutgers University, and has also studied under Daniel Greene, Patrick Saunders, Jane French, Nelson Shanks and Mark Bodges.
Her work has been featured in books and magazines including “Luxury Living,” “Night & Day,” Down the Shore Once More,” “Long Beach Island Rhapsody” and “Jersey Shore Magazine.”
