Throughout my career I have enjoyed pairing the clever engineering skills of Man with those of Nature. These juxtapositions have always complemented rather than opposed one another. I have striven to find the natural beauty inherent in each form and reveal a relationship which in hindsight seems almost obvious in each example.
I have primarily utilized the principles of Surrealism as well as Magical Realism as the platform for these expressions. I have tried to apply a type of humor that I would categorize as cosmic and slightly oblique in nature.
I started making collage art in 2020 as a way to explore an entirely different medium and method of creating. I enjoy many aspects of this new approach, including the sheer randomness of pairing the various images together. Sometimes it seems like the piece is telling me what to do, a feeling I've had at various times when working on my sculptural work.
I grew up in the Chicago area where I attended the School of the Art Institute and also had several sculpture apprenticeships. In the 90's I worked at the Johnson Atelier in the Trenton, NJ area for a number of years where I had a staff position. Later I worked in various sculpture studios here in New Jersey. I have continuously tried to create a cohesive and unique body of work that reflects my sometimes unusual way of seeing things.
