Kirstan Fitzpatrick
Kirstan Fitzpatrick is a portrait artist, working primarily in acrylics. Her work is focused on combining historical images with settings or symbolism that convey and emphasize the period in which the historical photo was taken. Through her work, Kirstan’s aim is to bring out the natural characteristics of each individual.
She has attempted to give each subject in her portraits a voice by creating settings and naming the unknown in order to show respect, and to further emphasize each individual as human beings that one can relate to in our present day and time.
Kirstan’s inspiration comes from her desire to bring individuals from history (many who’s names are unknown and stories are long forgotten) to a more contemporary light. She hopes to remind others through her work that all of our American history needs to be remembered, and that history still plays a very important part in today’s world.
